A nonprofit
organization with an aggressive mission needs financial support to be
successful. It can also use gifts of a nonmonetary nature, if the gift
directly support the mission, or can be converted to cash to support the
mission. Since 1995, some of the in-kind gifts received by the foundation
have been:
-
One hundred and
six shares of Borders Group, Inc. (Bookstores) stock. We sold the stock
for $3404.60 and used the funds for foundation projects.
-
The proceeds from a timber
cut on a 110-acre tract. We sold the timber for $32,681.88 and set this
amount aside in a donor-advised reserve fund under the control of our
Board of Directors.
-
Thirteen shares of
Merrill-Lynch stock. We sold the stock for $1008.96 and used the funds for
foundation projects.
-
Eleven shares of
Delta Airlines stock. We sold the stock for $1017.50 and used the funds
for foundation projects.
